With its 1802 cc boxer engine, the most powerful ever designed by BMW Motorrad, the R18 offers a unique riding experience, blending tradition with modernity. Its retro look, inspired by the brand's iconic models, will appeal to purists.

Our selection of the most beautiful BMW R18 bobbers in 2024

FCR ORIGINAL R18 BOBBER SPORT

FCR Original opted for a sporty vibe, transforming the elegant "First Edition" by adding muscle factor.

This is, in a way, a German version of a Harley FXDR. They call this machine the "Sport Edition" and it’s available on their website as a limited series.

The straight exhaust is custom-made by FCR. It’s paired with a new intake system that removes the original plastic parts, matched with K&N air filters.

These modifications increase the power beyond the original 91 hp.

The large boxer engine has been painted black, making it even more impressive. The huge valve covers are now in carbon fiber.

The wheels, now 17", are painted glossy black and fitted with sportier Michelin Road 5 GT tires.

Other modifications include custom aluminum fenders and new handlebars that are narrower and less pulled back than the originals.

FCR replaced the original controls with a Beringer master cylinder for the brake and clutch.

The compact indicators are from FCR’s catalog, installed on custom mounts. They are 3-in-1 units at the rear, also serving as tail lights / brake lights.

FCR developed a seat kit featuring a more compact bobber-style alcantara seat, bringing the rider closer to the handlebars and reducing visual bulk.

For the bodywork paint, they chose a BMW Pure Metal silver.

We love the style and suspect it foreshadows a future sporty version from BMW.

WalzWerk R18 Bobber

The renowned German customizer WalzWerk unveiled its version of the BMW R18.

Instead of a complete overhaul, they opted for subtle changes.

This approach unleashes the bike’s potential, bringing it closer to the original concept.

The essential modification is at the back of the bike. The R18 bobber kit includes a floating solo seat available in two sizes and adjustable. The rear fender is slimmer and integrates discreet taillights and indicators.

The riding position and suspension have also been revised. The front fork is lowered and fitted with new progressive springs. A new adjustable rear shock is installed.

The handlebar, levers, and controls are lowered for a sportier position. New risers and a lower, narrower handlebar are installed.

The headlight and speedometer are also repositioned to create a more compact front end.

The exhaust and chrome finishes are gone. The original headers are coated in black ceramic, and the mufflers are replaced with exclusive SC Project units.

All chrome parts have been blacked out, including the valve covers.

To finish, a petrol blue tank inspired by the Porsche 356 was added, featuring fine black stripes and minimalistic graphics.

WalzWerk identified the weak points of the R18 and addressed them subtly and effectively.

Workhorse Speed Shop BMW R18

Inspired by Art Deco aesthetics, Belgian customizer Brice Hennebert has created a unique motorcycle. The BMW R18 has been deeply modified to achieve a more aggressive and sporty look.

BMW R18 AVUS

The most notable modifications include:

  • Frame: Oversized wheels with special rims and an integrated Beringer braking system give the motorcycle an imposing look. The fully adjustable Öhlins suspension ensures exceptional comfort and handling.
  • Bodywork: A custom front fairing made from fiberglass and 3D-printed nylon features a vintage SEV Marchal headlight and elegant fork covers. The custom solo seat provides a clean look and a sporty riding position.
  • Engine: The boxer engine of the R18 is highlighted with aluminum parts, including the valve covers and engine casings. The custom exhaust, integrated into the lower fairing, delivers a deep and powerful sound.
  • Details: Numerous other details have been carefully crafted, such as the forward controls, mirrors integrated into the grips, and discreet indicators.

The result is a motorcycle that blends retro charm with modern technology.

The Workhorse Speed Shop R18 is a beautiful work of art.

It is both powerful and elegant. This motorcycle is sure to turn heads.
