Customizing Your Scout Bobber: An Infinite Playground

The Scout Bobber is an exceptional base for creating a unique motorcycle. Its clean style and raw character make it ideal for customization. Here are some ideas to transform your Scout Bobber into a bike that reflects your style:

The Scout Bobber, a Solid Base for Customization

Indian Motorcycle designer Ola Stenegärd is particularly proud of the new Scout’s tubular steel frame. So, he was thrilled when Ronna Norén from Unique Custom Cycles received a brand-new Scout and decided to modify the frame.

For Ola and the Indian team, customization was at the heart of the Scout project. Although the Scout is a modern bike with modern equipment, Indian wanted customizers to be able to easily make their modifications.

Ronna Norén, a long-time friend of Ola Stenegärd and member of the Swedish motorcycle club Plebs Choppers, offers a simple yet effective transformation of the Scout.

In less than a week, he shortened and rebuilt more than a third of the frame, giving the bike a geometry closer to the choppers he usually creates.

Key Modifications of the Scout Bobber

  • Frame: Ronna Norén shortened and modified the frame for a more chopper-like geometry.
  • Forks: 8" Tolle Engineering forks are installed with custom yokes.
  • Suspension: Fox OEM shocks are placed at the rear, with a modified swingarm.
  • Wheels: Spoked wheels with Cerakoted rims and hubs are mounted, with Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra tires.
  • Brakes: High-performance ISR brakes are installed, with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear.
  • Fuel Tank: The original tank is cut and re-welded for a more compact shape.
  • Other Modifications: A modified handlebar, modified foot pegs, a stainless steel exhaust, and a metal-flake paint job.

The Result: A Unique and High-Performance Scout Bobber Chopper

Roland Sands Design created a custom Indian Sport Scout in honor of Ed Kretz, a famous flat track racer. Kretz was known for modifying his Indian Scouts for racing, removing anything unnecessary for the track.

A Collaboration Between Indian Motorcycle and Roland Sands Design

RSD, known for their Indian Super Hooligan and King of the Baggers racing motorcycles, was commissioned to customize an Indian Sport Scout as part of Indian Motorcycle's "Forged" series.

A Fusion of Scout and FTR

RSD decided to blend elements of the Scout and FTR to create a more powerful and aggressive model.

They replaced the Scout's forks, yokes, and Brembo brakes with those from the FTR and modified the swingarm to use twin shocks.

Aesthetic and Technical Modifications

  • Wheels: RSD x Dymag forged aluminum wheels are fitted with Dunlop Sportmax Q5 tires.
  • Fairing: The front fairing is from the FTR, while the rear is completely customized with a new subframe and fender.
  • Ergonomics: The handlebar, foot pegs, and seat have been modified for a more sporty riding position.
  • Engine: The Sport Scout's 105 hp engine has been retained, but a new titanium exhaust system has been installed.

A Unique and High-Performance Design

The custom Scout by RSD features a black and yellow design, with bodywork elements inspired by flat track motorcycles.

It offers improved performance thanks to modifications to the suspension, brakes, and wheels.
