Honda CB550 cafe racer X Fate Customs

His vision was to build a bike that reflected his personal style, rather than adhering to traditional motorcycle aesthetics.

He achieved this by customizing the frame, engine, suspension, and other components.

The result is a sleek, minimalist motorcycle that is both functional and visually striking.

Ksienzyk's story highlights the importance of personal expression in custom bike building.

He encourages enthusiasts to break free from traditional styles and create motorcycles that truly represent their individuality.

Cafe racer Honda 550 X Cardsharper Customs

A stunning cafe racer built by Jacek Mulak of Cardsharper Customs in Poland.

The bike, nicknamed "Friday," is a 1977 Honda CB550 that received a complete transformation.

Collaboration is Key:

  • The project began with a concept from graphic designer Michał Ćwiek, who envisioned a classic cafe racer style with a modern twist.
  • Despite initial hesitation, Jacek and Michał found common ground, with Michał trusting Jacek's experience for technical solutions.

Modern Upgrades with Classic Appeal:

  • The front end received the most significant upgrade with shortened Suzuki GSX-R forks, maintaining the classic wheel for visual continuity.
  • New custom-made triple clamps were required to allow for proper turning radius with the GSX-R forks.
  • The cockpit features modern touches like aluminum clip-on handlebars, a digital speedometer, and LED lighting.
  • The rear suspension received new shocks and a wider 17-inch supermoto wheel with a matching GSX-R brake setup.

Elegant Design and Performance:

  • A slim, upswept subframe supports a handcrafted leather seat and tail unit, cleverly concealing the battery and electrics.
  • The engine gets a visual refresh with high-temperature paint, polished covers, and a free-flowing exhaust system for a throaty sound.
  • Michał designed the paint scheme for the tank, incorporating his logo and a combination of matte and glossy finishes.

Friday is a testament to the success of collaborative design, blending classic cafe racer aesthetics with modern functionality. The meticulous attention to detail, from refurbished parts to the custom paintwork, elevates this Honda CB550 to a work of art.
