ADV suspension conversion kit for BMW R nineT

More travel, optimized height, and ABS compatibility for your R nineT

Transform your BMW R nineT into a true adventure machine with this conversion kit designed to accept Adventure-type suspension. This solution leverages readily available suspension assemblies from the KTM 790/890 Adventure and Norden 901 platforms to deliver a significant gain in travel, ground clearance, and versatility, without requiring heavy modifications to the bike. The goal: improve behavior on off-road and demanding trails while preserving daily reliability and ergonomics.

Once installed, this kit achieves front travel from 175 to 240 mm (depending on the fork version used) and rear travel of 55 mm. Seat height adjusts between 875 and 900 mm, ideal for off‑road enthusiasts and riders over 1.80 m. Everything is scaled for a mass close to that of the R nineT, ensuring balance and robustness in intensive use.

The front set includes machined, ready‑to‑fit components for easier integration, and the rear set features an adjustable base designed to fit the different R nineT generations. You benefit from a coherent installation, compatible braking, and preserved ABS management when you keep your original wheel sizes.

    Compatibility:

    • BMW R nineT (2017–2024)

    • BMW R nineT Pure (2017–2024)

    • BMW R nineT Scrambler (2017–2024)

    • BMW R nineT Urban G/S (2017–2024)

    • BMW R nineT (2014–2024) – rear kit

    Technical specifications:

    • 🛠 Type: front and rear suspension conversion kit for BMW R nineT

    • 📏 Compatible forks: stanchions Ø 54–60 mm (ktm 790/890 Adventure and Norden 901 versions)

    • 💪 Material: 6061‑T6 triple clamps, 7075‑T6 rear base, TC4 titanium front axle, zinc‑nickel plated ABS ring

    • Travel: front 175–240 mm (depending on version), rear 55 mm

    • 📐 Seat height: adjustable from 875 to 900 mm

    • 🚦 ABS: “small‑format” ring compatible 2017–2024; dedicated solution required for 2014–2016 with large ABS disc

    • 🧩 Braking: designed for 100 mm radial calipers with 30 mm offset (optimized disc alignment)

    • 🔌 Electronics: no reprogramming if you keep the stock wheel sizes; adaptation required when changing diameters

    • 🧴 Contents – front kit: upper/lower triple clamps preassembled with bearing base and dust seal, titanium front axle, zinc‑nickel plated ABS ring, custom brake lines

    • 🧱 Contents – rear kit: height‑adjustable mounting base + spherical bearings (dimensions specific to EU4/EU5 generations)

    • 🛡 Accessory compatibility: fairing/headlight mounting points retained; accessories clamped on the OEM forks may become incompatible (Ø 54–60 mm)

    Advantages over stock:

✔ Significantly increased front travel for demanding off‑road
✔ Adjustable seat height to fit your build
✔ Improved stability and shock absorption
✔ Premium materials (6061‑T6, 7075‑T6, TC4) for rigidity and lightness
✔ Thought‑through ABS compatibility and 100 mm radial braking
✔ Coherent install without heavy transformation of the bike

    Why upgrade the stock setup?

The stock R nineT shines on the road but shows its limits when you seek travel and ground clearance worthy of sustained off‑road adventure. The more road‑oriented stock suspension reduces effectiveness over successive bumps, ruts, and fast tracks. This results in increased fatigue and less consistent traction off pavement.

    • Limited front travel and imperfect shock absorption

    • Ground clearance and stance less suited to rough terrain

    • Seat height not very adjustable for tall riders

    • Braking accessories less versatile for off‑road use

This kit addresses these points by integrating proven ADV components, adapted geometry, stiff yet lightweight materials, and preserved ABS compatibility. You gain comfort, control, and confidence on all terrains without sacrificing everyday convenience.

    Ideal use:

    • Riders looking to convert their R nineT into a capable trail/Adventure bike

    • Tall riders (>1.80 m) seeking optimized seat height

    • Travelers and fans of trails, tracks, dunes, and rough roads

    • Builders and enthusiasts of off‑road‑oriented technical upgrades

    • Users wanting to keep ABS and ergonomics while increasing travel

    Important contents and prerequisites:

    • Front kit: pre‑assembled triples (bearing base + dust seal), titanium front axle, zinc‑nickel plated ABS ring, custom brake lines. You must source a compatible ADV fork (S/R versions from the KTM 790/890 Adventure or Norden 901 platforms) and 100 mm radial calipers with 30 mm offset. A high fender is required, mounted at the headlight/fairing nose bracket.

    • Rear kit: adjustable base + spherical bearings. Plan for an OEM KTM 790/890 Adventure rear shock (standard or S versions). The R version is not suitable for the R nineT due to the placement of its gas reservoir. Note that the bushing dimensions differ between R nineT with a cable throttle (EU4 2014–2020) and with an electronic throttle (EU5 2021–2024): choose the appropriate variant when ordering.

ABS and electronics compatibility: if you keep your wheel sizes stock, no reprogramming is required. If you change diameters (larger or smaller), a specific program is generally required to avoid system errors.
