  • Installation & Safety Notice – “X-Pipe” De-Cat Mid-Section for Ducati Scrambler 800 (all dual-outlet variants)

    Installation & Safety Notice — Stainless X-Pipe De-Catalyser
Ducati Scrambler 800 | Icon • Classic • Full Throttle • Desert Sled

This mid-pipe replaces the OEM catalytic converter and centre silencer, reducing weight by ≈ 4.5 kg / 10 lb and altering exhaust flow. Emissions and noise regulations differ worldwide — review the table below before using the motorcycle on public roads.

    Region Key Rules Your Checklist
USA EPA 40 CFR 86.407-78 (tampering) & Clean Air Act §203(a)(3) Removing the catalytic converter renders the bike for closed-course competition only. Use is illegal on public highways.
Sellers must label “RACE USE ONLY – NOT FOR HIGHWAY”.
The original catalytic converter must be retained for future emissions inspections.
EU / UK Reg. (EU) 168/2013 Euro 5 + UNECE R41 noise De-cat exceeds Euro 5 HC+NOx limits and likely noise limits.
Road use requires an individual approval (TÜV/IVA) and may still fail periodic ITV/MOT tests.
Marked as “Track / Off-Road Only”.
Australia / NZ ADR 83/00 stationary noise & ADR 79/04 emissions Removal of catalytic converter breaches ADR 79/04 — vehicle becomes non-compliant for road registration.
Race/track use permissible; label must be affixed or supplied in documentation.

    Universal Fitting Instructions

    • Support the exhaust; remove rear silencer cans, O2 sensor(s) and OEM catalytic box.
    • Slide the X-pipe into the original header outlets; use new exhaust gaskets if required.
    • Re-install stock mufflers (or race cans) ensuring M8 clamp bolts are torqued to 25 N·m / 18 lbf·ft.
    • Re-install O2 sensors with anti-seize (≤ 34 N·m).
    • Upload or flash an ECU map calibrated for de-cat to avoid lean running.
    • After first heat-cycle, re-torque all joints; inspect for leaks (black soot).

    Important Notes

    • Closed-Course Competition Use Only — not legal for highway or street in most jurisdictions.
    • Noise levels typically increase by 4–6 dB(A); check local track limits.
    • Warranty & insurance may be voided by catalyst removal.

⚠️ Running the motorcycle on public roads without a catalytic converter may result in fines, registration cancellation or vehicle impoundment. Excessive noise can lead to rider fatigue and hearing damage. Install and use at your own risk.
