This tubular-steel rack replaces the pillion seat to carry light luggage. Regulations differ by region; read the table below before using it on public roads.
Region | Key Rules | Your Responsibilities |
---|---|---|
USA | FMVSS 108 (lamp visibility) & vehicle defect liability | Luggage must not block tail/brake lamps or indicators. Rack is for cargo only — not a passenger seat. Keep load ≤ 5 kg / 11 lb to avoid failure. |
EU / UK | MOT / ITV visual checks, UNECE Reg. 53 (lighting) | After fitment, verify seat latch engages fully. Ensure rear lamp & plate remain visible from 20 m. Maximum load 5 kg; overloading may fail MOT. |
Australia / NZ | ADR 13/00 lighting & ADR 42/04 equipment | Rack or luggage must not obscure mandatory lamps. Loads > 5 kg may require engineering sign-off (LO2). Use thread-locker on all mounting bolts. |
⚠️ Overloading, improper fitment or obstruction of rear lamps can lead to loss of control, accidents or road-worthiness failure. Install and use at your own risk. Rack is not designed for passenger seating.
