These injection-moulded ABS fenders replace the OEM front & rear units. Regulations on tyre clearance, lamp / plate visibility and unpainted plastics differ by region — review the table below before riding on public roads.
Region | Key Rules | Your Checklist |
---|---|---|
USA | FMVSS 108 (lamp visibility) + tyre-clearance common-law | Front fender must clear tyre ≥ 15 mm at full fork compression (170 mm). Rear fender must leave tail/brake lamps fully visible 20 m to rear. Paint or UV-coat raw ABS within 90 days to prevent chalking. |
EU / UK | UNECE R53 & MOT/ITV visual inspection | No sharp edges (< 2.5 mm radius); raw ABS must be finished with UV-stable coat. Rear plate & reflector must remain vertical and unobstructed. Check front brake hose/ABS wire clearance lock-to-lock. |
Australia / NZ | ADR 42/04 (general safety) & ADR 13/00 lighting | Fender or load must not obscure mandatory lamps; width ≤ handle-bar width. Minimum front-wheel coverage: 30 ° forward / 60 ° rear of vertical. UV-stable paint recommended; raw ABS yellows under high UV. |
⚠️ Insufficient tyre clearance, loose fasteners or obstructed lamps can cause loss of control, legal penalties or failed inspections. Install and finish at your own risk.
⚠️ California Proposition 65: This product can expose you to chemicals including styrene (ABS monomer). For more information visit P65Warnings.ca.gov.
