  • Installation & Safety Notice – “Monza” Screw-On Fuel-Cap Triumph Twins 2001-2025

    Installation & Safety Notice — Monza-Style Flip-Top Fuel-Cap
Triumph Bobber, T100/T120, Street Twin, Thruxton, Scrambler 900  with M38×2.5 neck

This aluminum flip-top cap replaces the OEM screw cap for faster refuelling and a vintage look. Venting, emissions and sealing rules differ worldwide — review the table below before road use.

    Region Key Rules Your Checklist
USA EPA 40 CFR 1060 evap (anti-tamper) Cap is vented one-way (vacuum break only) — evap canister remains functional.
Do not modify breather jet; retains emissions compliance.
    Hand-tighten only; torque ≈ 2 N·m.
    EU / UK Euro 5 evap limit & UNECE R34 fuel integrity Vent pierce ≤ 2 g m⁻² d⁻¹; PCV line unchanged.
MOT/ITV will fail if cap leaks — check seal yearly.
Logo engraving ≤ 4 mm relief → no sharp edges.
Australia / NZ ADR 79/04 evap & ADR 42/04 projections Cap must self-vent but not spill at 45° bike lean — flip-top latch tested to 10 kPa.
Beaded rim ≥ 2.5 mm radius meets sharp-edge rule.

    Universal Fitting Instructions

    • Remove OEM cap; inspect filler-neck thread (M38 × 2.5) for burrs.
    • Lightly oil supplied O-ring; seat O-ring in groove.
    • Screw Monza cap by hand until stop, then back ¼-turn so flip-top lever points rearward.
    • Open/close several times — verify latch clicks; cap should not rattle.
    • After first heat-cycle, check for seepage; replace spare O-ring if needed.

    Maintenance & Care

    • Polished or chrome: wipe with microfiber; use non-acid metal polish.
    • Black anodized: clean with pH-neutral soap; avoid abrasive pads.
    • Replace O-ring annually or if fuel smell is noticed.

⚠️ A blocked vent, damaged seal or loose latch can cause fuel leakage, tank vacuum collapse or fire. Install and use at your own risk.
