  • Installation & Safety Notice – Hand-Crafted Short Front Mudguard for Triumph Bobber

Installation & Safety Notice — Short Aluminum Front Mudguard
    Triumph Bobber 2017-2025 • 49 mm fork

This hand-formed guard replaces the OEM front fender to give a classic bobber stance. Because it shortens splash coverage, clearance and spray-suppression rules vary worldwide — review the table below before riding on public roads.

    Region Key Rules Your Checklist
USA Common-law Tyre-clearance + lamp visibility Guard must clear tire ≥ 20 mm at full 90 mm fork compression.
No interference with brake hose or ABS wire at full lock.
Raw alloy should be clear-coated or waxed to avoid corrosion.
EU / UK UNECE R26 projections & MOT inspection Beaded lip ≥ 2.5 mm radius meets sharp-edge rule.
MOT may fail if spray thrown forward hits head-lamp — Version supplied covers 30° forward of vertical.
Head-lamp, indicators and reflector must remain unobstructed.
Australia / NZ ADR 42/04 splash suppression Guard must cover ≥ 30° forward / 60° rear of vertical when wheel centered.
If shorter, add flexible rubber flap (customer option).
Verify hose clearance and no sharp projections beyond 5 mm.

    Universal Fitting Instructions

    • Support front wheel; remove OEM fender and struts (4 × M6).
    • Position new guard with supplied stainless struts; align centrally over tire.
    • Install M6 × 20 mm bolts with thread-locker; torque 9 N·m (80 lbf·in).
    • Cycle forks fully — guard must not contact tire, hose, or radiator crossover pipe.
    • Re-torque fasteners after first 100 km / 60 mi, then every service.

    Finishing & Care

    • Brushed: wipe with light oil / sealant to slow oxidation.
    • Polished: use non-acidic aluminum polish; avoid steel wool.
    • Painted: treat as automotive paint; wash with pH-neutral soap.

⚠️ Inadequate tire clearance, loose bolts or sharp edges can cause tire damage, legal penalties, or loss of control. Install and use at your own risk.
