Region | Rule | Your Checklist |
---|---|---|
USA | EPA 40 CFR 1060 (evap) & FMVSS 301 (fuel integrity) | Cap is vented one-way (anti-vacuum) and does not delete the evap system. Hand-tighten “until snug”; do not use tools. Inspect O-ring every 12 months. |
EU / UK | Reg.(EU) 168/2013 – Stage V evap limit | Breather valve ≤2 g m⁻² d⁻¹ equivalent; keep charcoal canister in place. Replace O-ring if fuel smell is detected. |
Australia / NZ | ADR 79/04 (Euro 5) evaporative |
Acceptable as replacement part when fitted to stock evap plumbing. Ensure no fuel vapour leakage; annual roadworthy may inspect. |
⚠️ A blocked vent or damaged seal can cause fuel leakage, tank deformation, fire or loss of engine power. Install and use at your own risk.
